The average person takes in about 100 grams of added sugar a day. I take in about 150 grams of added sugar. According to the American Heart Association the maximum amount of added sugar is 37.5 grams daily. 1 can of regular soda has 40 grams.
A maximum of 37.5 grams daily is a CRAZY number. The only people who could do less than 37.5 grams a day are vegetarians, anorexics, and dead people.
Christ, the medical profession won't let us have ANY fun!
Granola bars: 21.8 grams of sugar, 20.4 of which are added
Fruit-flavored yogurt: 19 grams of sugar, 11.4 of which are added
Carrot cake (1 medium slice) - 3 teaspoons of sugar (15 grams)
37.5 grams of sugar a day? Total? My ass! So, according to nutritional and health experts, what are we supposed to eat? Apparently, all we can eat and drink, if we want to eat "healthy", is 2 spoonfuls of unsweetened lentils (whatever THEY are), half a banana, a plate of lettuce (no dressing), water, and maybe, for dessert, some dirt ... with a side of green grass.
The new human diet. Enjoy.
